Introducing Single Touch Payroll (STP) with Mark Elwell

 

Single Touch Payroll (STP) is a new way of reporting tax and super information to the ATO (and is required by businesses from 1 July 2019).

If you are using a solution that offers STP reporting, such as payroll or accounting software, you will send your employees' tax and super information to the ATO each time you run your payroll and pay your employees.

The information is sent to the ATO either directly from your software, or through a third party – such as a sending service provider.

If you have a software provider, they can tell you more about the type of STP solution they offer.

There will also be a number of options available for employers who do not use payroll software, such as No-cost and low-cost Single Touch Payroll solutions.

Mark Elwell Bio:
Promoting positive community experiences, I understand that no single approach is the right one for every individual. Sometimes tax experiences can be traumatic and one of those great life stressors when left unchecked lives can simply unravel. My passion in life since joining the ATO in 2003 has been about changing the perceptions of others, inside and out.  

As Director, Small Business, I am part of the strategic leadership team. I have responsibilities that include driving collaborative approaches to ensure we engage with the community in a way that builds trust and confidence. I want the ATO to be relevant and valued. I set out to make things easier and it makes sense. For me when we get this right I see the benefits that flow back into the community.
