Cheryl's Bio

Cheryl Stainsby consults to businesses and individuals facing financial stress and insolvency. Her company, Strategic Solutions QLD, devises and implements exit strategies to get the best results for her clients.

Cheryl’s early career started as a Registered Nurse and she practiced in Australia, the UK and Saudi Arabia before opting for a change of career in 1993 and joining her husband in a family business here in Brisbane.   In 1999 she went back to University to do a Master of Business Administration so she could bring an added level of expertise needed to run their rapidly growing furniture manufacturing business which eventually fell victim to competition from imports and was forced to close in 2006.   

Cheryl’s 26 years’ experience as a business owner, including 14 years running a large furniture factory and 12 years consulting in insolvency, restructuring and turnaround, gave her a valuable insight into what business owners and their families go through, both emotionally and financially when they are faced with insurmountable debt and the threat of liquidation and bankruptcy.

Strategic Solutions QLD is a boutique business with a small but dedicated team of staff, who are able to look after the complex and varied needs of business owners who need to find a way to close down a business. At the same time juggling the shame and guilt of not being able to pay creditors and the depression and anxiety that this brings.   With an often deteriorating marriage, and family life these directors need try to find a new way to earn money to feed the family. They often have to move to a new house, suburb or state due to the loss of the family home, and also have to deal with the statutory demands of liquidators and or bankruptcy trustees who are often either oblivious or aggressive and uncaring as to the plight of the former business owner. 

Cheryl and her team are able to help with all of these demands and allow their clients’ to find a way forward and start a new chapter in their lives.
